Welcome to the Shah Lab at the Kellogg Biological Station at Michigan State University! We are  broadly interested in understanding how climatic variation shapes traits, performance and distributions of ectotherms. In aquatic systems, organism  responses to warming are tightly linked to (and further complicated by) oxygen availability. Here, we largely work with aquatic insects and their communities to understand how temperature and oxygen shape physiological and morphological traits. We use our data to forecast aquatic insect responses to future change. In this lab, we are committed to making academia more diverse, inclusive, equitable and just.
